Hotel Rainer is a traditional business that has been in the same family for more than 130 years. For generations, we have placed great emphasis on providing a personal service, so that our guests experience a restful and unforgettable stay at the Hotel & Residence Rainer.

Our attitude can be summed up in one phrase:

Hotel Rainer, Hochpuster Valley: The History

The first written mention of our house was in 1875, when it was described as a wine bar. This laid the foundations for "a house with tradition”. Soon thereafter our wine bar in Winnebach became a village inn with a farm, and after the Second World War Mrs Filomena Rainer rented out the first guest rooms.

In the beginning, the 2 guest rooms were only rented to summer holidaymakers in the Hochpuster Valley, later this was extended to the winter holidays. And so this former wine bar developed into a hotel industry in the heart of the Dolomites.

From a tavern in Prato Drava to a hotel in San Candido 

From 1944 onwards meals were also provided. Renovations over the following decades led to the creation of the luxury Hotel Rainer, which since 1995 has also offered additional apartments for its guests in the Residence Rainer. 

 Since December 7th 2006, the history of Hotel Rainer has gained a new chapter: We have extended our hotel and now offer guests 6 Superior-Rooms furnished in Tyrolean style. With our ecological district-heating station, we’re setting new standards in the Hochpuster Valley: The biomass district heating station provides the Hotel & Residence Rainer - as well as 16 other households in Prato Drava - with clean energy, biologically with wood. 

 Since December 2008 our new wellness area „Rainer’s Relax“, has been available FREE, offering a wonderful sauna and fantastic relaxation room. Would you like more intimacy? Sweat it out in our Finnish sauna, fully traditionally designed in mature timber, which can be rented out as a PRIVATE SPA. 

Since December 2010 we can offer our guests 4 completely renovatet "Prestige Rooms".
